My school didn't have any computer classes. I came from a farming school. :( Kids drove their tractors to school...it was pathetic...

My Hi School had a "terminal" which was a big green typwriter like thing with a rather large yellow roll of paper on the back. It was hooked up to the Univ. 3.5 hours away.

You had to punch each letter (touch typing was def out), and when you did the "Daisy Wheel" spun and hit the ribbon, making a mark on the yellow paper.

So you punch, tuka tuka tuka, wait for a response, tuka tuka tuka, rip off the paper and try to read the faded charachters...All of this happened over a period of time, since it took an average of 10 min for the info to travel, do what you wanted it to, then travel back...

There were 5 terminals in the State, my Hi Sch had 1... 5 kids got to learn how to make it spit stuff out... all done in basic...

well at my school we have a c++ programming course (for grade 10), and we have a two-semister program where you study the CISCO curriculum and get certified by cisco as a CCNA by the time you graduate from high school.. unfortunately though, none of these courses fit in my schedule, as im going into an 8-semister long robotics/manufacturing/electronics program next year (grade 11), in a city thats like 45 minutes away from where i live...... i get to work for the ford company too =) ... bet its gonna be fun :) :bounce:

Our school has many computers and many computer classes. Its pretty cool (even though most of the computers are slow as crap and people mistreat them so much).

9th:
computer applications (required to graduate and for all other computer classes)

10:
visual basic
C++
Java
business computer applications
desktop publishing

11:
internet publishing 1 (a programming class required for this).
ap computer science (c++ required)
desktop publishing 2 (imagine whats required)

12:
internet publishing 2

Of course you could take c++ youre 11th or 12th grade years, but these are just the earliest you can take the classes, unless you exempt out of a year or 2 of stuff. Pretty much all the classes except AP CS are just free time where we play games though. Especially IP 2 where we've done about 4 hours of work the entire year. And 3 of those hours are just the teacher making up crap for us to do to make it so the class won't be a total waste.

we do have digital arts course (gr. 11) and a communication course (i.e video editing and photography)... but they kinda suck.. pretty basic stuff.. but wow, your school, NaliWarCowZ, has tons of cool courses.. is it like a provate school or.. just a high school? :)

My school is public. Our city just has a huge mall that collects TONS of taxes from it. And we have like half our money going to the schools for some reason. its pretty cool. We have about 9 classrooms with about 30 computers in each one. Its pretty wierd how much our school spends on education and yet how little they actually care about it. Our principal could care less if the school shut down, just as long as we get lots of state championships from the football team and other sports.

well here in Antigua its rather worse. most schools just started to get computers and they r far outdated now anyways. i guess they got them cheap or something. most schools don't even teach anything that require serious thought. they do like classes for Word, Excel, and Database. they just build a new school like a year ago for mainly computer studies. u can get an associates in basically anything computer related. still sucks cuz the teachers and professors......well they suck. I was doing my associates in Network Administration but it wasn't working out for me. :skull: o well. basically most people just have a computer around here to say they have one. no real usage of it for anything other than to type of a word document or surf the net. :hangover: its pathetic.

i got alot to learn about flash still. ive tried out most of the tutorials on the site, get irritated having to use predone .fla's so i just start from scratch and stuff. like to know that i can do the stuff myself. i have narcalepsy(hope i spelt that right) and working and tryin to do this at the same time is kinda hard, not enough time between passing out and other stuff to come up with something or test out everything to be a really big voice. i do have ideas just have to find the time to implement them.

Before i started to work i had alot of time on my hands especially in the night cuz i sleep mostly during the day. but i wasn't as into flash then as i am now. which really sucks. my only problem right now with flash is that im disorganized. like creating a web page and such i wanna do it with mostly flash maybe use dream weaver or indesign to do my layout but since i have neither of those on this computer, ive just decided to try and figure out how to do it with mainly flash. thats hard tho. i know im just not thinking straight.

I usually try to pre-plan a website before I actually work with the programs. I rough sketch how I want it to look on paper and use it as a guide while working int he programs. It cuts down on time sitting there thinking of what to do next. Maybe you should give it a try sometimes, it works for me, maybe it would work for you. Just draw it out, it doesnt have to be all nice or anything.

i do that as well but i im a little confused as to what to do when layin it out. like i don't know if i should make the page like one big movie with smaller movie clips inside cuz the work area isn't that large u know. or if i should just create a bunch of movies like the elements of the page and then like put them at strategic points on the page. like a banner ad would be one swf and place it on top then my main movie in the middle text in a different box to the side which isnt part of the main movie and so on. u know that kind of thing. like my menu would be a different movie again which would call the main movie and let it play in the center or something. what is a good idea????
