Nice site, the transitions for the photos are great.
Now I'm goin to be a little harsh but it's for your own good:
1.It takes quite a while to load (about 2 minutes and I have broadband!)
2.It is a little bland, maybe that's what you were aiming for (minimalistic I mean, not bland)
3.The font on the bio page is a little hard to read, it's too narrow and blurry. You should use Myriad instead of that one if possible.
4.The logo is nice but it looks a bit out of place at the right hand side, I don't know why
On a positive note:
1.The menu is nice, simple but elegant
2.Great colour scheme though maybe you could add in one more colour to make it a bit more interesting, keep with the pastel shades though
3.Again I really like the way the photo frame appears
Overall:
Nice site and a good start just make it a little more interesting and you'll have a really good/great site.

thanks for your input!
yes it takes awhile to load.. she has a terrible server. This is meant to be a conservative "clean" site to showcase her work.

Very nicely done. The font is a tad hard to read, but it's got a really nice feel to it. Also, on the contact part, you may want to put a rectangle behind the text (on the button if that's what you're using) so that it's easier to click on. I found myself trying to get it perfectly over a line on the text to click on it. I had that problem with a site I once did. Very nicely done though. The load time wasn't as bad for me. Only took about 30 seconds. I'm on broadband as well.

I think it's very nice but the animation is too choppy, you ought to make a smoother animation (if you're using flash's auto animation rather than as you can just use the ease out feature) that should help it a ton I think, other than that, awesome! I didn't notice any problems loading slowly or anything like that and I'm simply using dsl, probably just nobody at it now :) you could also try changing the gray in the back to something a bit lighter, I always go for those more but it looks ok, just could use it

read all the XML tutorials then start experimenting.
i just did a site without dynamically loading them (www.artofexposure.net). its a super big load time. i just learned how to do it through the tutorials here, and im going to redo the site this summer. i suggest to look into dynamically loading the pictures.
good site though. i liked it other than the load time.

I think there is a bug in the menu. While Portfolio item is expanded clicking to other two items just collapse Portfolio sub menu insead of navigating to the releated sections.

And one more thing I wouldn't use a pop up window.
