I have an idea, but I have no idea how to do it :-\

It would've been an avi then...

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 01:02 AM
what are the colours used for the logo or is it black and white??

marius
January 28th, 2003, 01:15 AM
I have them on my office computer so I can only tell you to view the last battle for the logo. Nothing has changed. I can get the hexadecimals if needed tomorrow in the AM...

Hope that helps...

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 01:19 AM
yeah would help. lol

By the way, whats the animation going to be used for, internet or mailer or what?

marius
January 28th, 2003, 02:00 AM
Leaving that up to you. But yes it is internet specific...

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 03:59 AM
another question, what frame rate do you want the animation?

the file was on 45fps , leave it there ? or change it?

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 07:13 AM
hey, i kinda stuffed up , cause i started workin on it with 45 frame rate, and i went a bit to far to go back, here is my go, i might be changing it before the due date, might need a complete change or some changes.

well here it is. tell me what you think

Paul.S

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 07:18 AM
and now the file, lol

alethos
January 28th, 2003, 07:38 AM
LOL that's what I was gonna do! Nice work Soulty...I guess it's back to the drawing board for me. :)

-Al

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 07:48 AM
thanx, so you like it? iam a bit worried about the frame rate, since i was workin on your file and you had the frame rate at 45fps, if he makes a website at 20fps and puts that in, it's going to be really slow, will this matter?

alethos
January 28th, 2003, 07:52 AM
He'll probably just make the website's framerate match the logo animation. Or, if he uses the animation as sort of a splash page, then it will not be contained inside another SWF so the framerate can be anything and it won't matter. I wouldn't worry.

-Al

.soulty

new file, same style just fixed some things and added a loop variable. check it out.

btw: its still on 45fps.

marius
January 28th, 2003, 11:35 AM
High five! Nice work my man! And it's only Tuesday morning! I spoke with Athelos about his idea for the animation out of curiousity and great minds think a like it would seem. Looks very professional! This is going to be a tough competition, I hope everyone gets involved.

Good Luck Soulty!!! I really like it.

Update *
*********

Just so everyone knows, it doesn't necessarily have to be a logo animation. It could be an intro animation what have you using th elogo. But we might have two winners in this battle. A logo as well as intro if one is presented... we'll have to wait and see.

But Soulty, great logo animation... very nice...

dausone
January 28th, 2003, 03:07 PM
damn it soulty! :!: I think we all had the same idea!! and I have been working on mine for a bit already... well the concept is a bit different so I will post it anyway... when its ready to go. Also considering the time it takes just to make a logo animation making a complete intro would be VERY time consuming. Maybe think about raising the stakes a bit for that one marius?? Just to let you know mine is somewhere in the middle but it certainly doesnt qualify for an intro thats for sure!

marius
January 28th, 2003, 04:10 PM
It was $25 and now it's $40. This isn't a poker game :cowboy:

And heck, thats a 66.7 % raise. It's really up to you. I know that there will be quite a few entries. If it isn't worth your time, I understand but if it is, GL2U!

Either way, thanks for putting the time into it to begin with.

dausone
January 28th, 2003, 06:25 PM
damn it! You called my bluff! :moustache - I just had a pair of deuces!

Hey Al, can you attach a nicer resolution of the final, completed logo when you get a chance. Doesnt have to be outrageous since I am using it in flash. Thanks.

-D.

Never mind Al I think I can manage.

I think Im done, maybe some touch up stuff left to make it a little smoother... I had to go back and changed it a bit after seeing soulty's...damn... haha. I wanted to create a header for a main page as you will see by my example. Hey, its the best I could do with the cards at hand. I can only hope that it gets up there with the top ones... shooot.

here goes nothin...

FLASH (http://extendedspace.com/WoodsTek/WoodsTek.htm)

oh yeah when does this thing end anyway?

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 10:04 PM
hey marius, what frame rate are you going to use for your website, thats if your going to do your website in flash?

.soulty
January 28th, 2003, 11:49 PM
here is a update, just some tweaks and other little keyframe adjustments.

edit::::::

By the way marius , like alethos said, this could be used for a splash page to your website. or you could use it as a intro to your website, or you could you use it inside your website.

you could use one or the other elements by themselves , such as just the tree animation in your website and the type could be static as a graphic situated somewhere else.

.soulty
January 29th, 2003, 01:45 AM
ok i know i ve posted a bit too much here, lol, but here it is , no more changes, the finalfinal one, lol,

Marius i know alethos has set the logo design, but was the colour set?

Well i kinda change the type colour of Tek and IT to orange, i like it better that way, but thats up to you.

So the final final one , hope you like it.

:) :smirk:

hey all, got a new file, i wasen't happy about having the animation on 45fps, so i changed it, same animation, a little diff,
i think better , its just that now its 25 fps, much better for the computers that cant handle high frame rate animation.

(-:

alethos
January 31st, 2003, 07:35 AM
This last one looks best, Soulty. I think it was well worth the extra effort to drop the framerate!

Why, do I look it? ;)

No I'm not Greek, but I liked the word so I use it as my nick. And I'm not Christian either, in case that was your next question. :)

-Al

lol, nah wasen't going to ask you that, the word means 'truth' in greek , so yeah it's a nice word.

I know this coz iam greek.

;)

So where is your animation alethos , i want to see what you have come up with?? :smirk:

alethos
January 31st, 2003, 11:14 PM
Yeah I was looking for a new nick and I stumbled upon a bunch of scientific terms. One was alethology (the study of truth), so I figured the root of the word was "alethos" and since I liked the meaning, "truth", I adopted it as my name. The only thing is, I have only encountered it in religious areas, used in the phrase, "Truly, [Christ] is reborn," so I figured it was old Greek, not used colloquially anymore. Anyway, in the many years I've used it, you are the very first to know what it means. :)

As for my animation, I haven't had much time to work on it over the past few days, but I'm sure I'll get it done by Sunday (I hope!).

My intro animation is finished, but because of a series of crashes it's not finished rendering. I'm in the process of rendering it out as I write this, and I'm hoping to avoid more crashes so I can get it up soon!

alethos

I am so pissed. I can't figure out why I keep crashing!!!!

I was able to squeeze off this low res animation with the model I made.

I am not at all happy with it, but I'm too pised to continue (STUPID COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

-Al

You may want to reduce the size of the window to increase performance. (http://members.rogers.com/alethos/kirupa/woodsteklogoanim.swf)

February 2nd, 2003, 09:50 PM
ah man, that look good 2, are you going to add more? thats if your try to render it again, btw what are you using to render?

alethos
February 2nd, 2003, 10:11 PM
I used Maya to model it and Mental Ray to render it. Threw it all into Flash and added some sound.

I would love to add to it, but not today; I'm too pissed at this stinking machine!

Three entries If I'm mistaken please let me know. Duasone, I really liked the interface. Thanks for the effort. Seeing as the design incorporates are larger % of the header and the navigation would be limited, I just want to praise you on a great design and the effort.

Soulty and Athelos, How would you guys feel about splitting the purse? I honestly can't decide. I want to incorporate Soulty's AS my animation logo. Athelos, you're design leaves a plethora of options as an intro. You have talents that I aspire to possess. Would it be possible to render it at another time? I have Maya and Mental Ray as well, would it be possible to allow me to try and render it? I'd love to see the finished piece. Wow.

Also, I've thrown in a tshirt to both of you with the logo on the pocket and also large scale on the back... I need to get your address Soulty, just private message me.

Let me know about the draw. If you'd rather I choose, I'll do so after hearing from both of you. Until then, if you want some time to tweak, be my guest.

So as it stands, we have a draw. Soulty for a concrete, perfect, logo animation and Athelos coming through with a low res rendering of the perfect intro screen...

Thanks guys! Talk to you soon.

Thanks again guys for helping get my companies branding off in the right direction. I've emailed you about the payment arrangements.
