Critics on design

hi all,

i've designed something for a friend of mine (he's a groove & techno dj), can u tell me what u all think of it and how i can improve the design? I'm not quite finished yet, but i just wanted to now if i started off right ;)
quality may be not that great, but upload limit is 74kb, had to shrink them down a bit :)

The design dosn't scream techno to me. Also the background graphic just seems washed out rather than faded.

well, i tried to keep it a bit underground, kinda like an old factory style. i've added some old rusty chains of different length and width, i'll show u the result when i'm finished

Yeah I agree, the back image has to go and it doesn't say techno to me. Colour scheme doesn't work either...sorry but it's back to the drawing board.

it screams chill out to my pastel underworld of soul, lol. you are gunna want to go with high contrast colors. you can stick with that overall layout but the "rust" is overdone.

im invisioning black background with brushed metal interface(there is where the rust comes in) and bright blue accents(buttons, header images, text, etc...) maybe some glow effects also. check out the 3d logo tut on here for that "p" it might look cool.

you said you added some rusty chains and such, an industrial feel would be real cool too.

now i've never heard this dj and i dont know him, i could be way off with my suggestions but when you say techno & groove thats just what pops into my head. Good Luck!

I'd seriously consider ditiching the rust look. I think thats prob the main reason you aint portraying the techno image.

but remarquably enough, i've shown my almost finished design to the guy, and he was like "WOW, that sh*t's great", but i'm still going to apply these changes
