Here's a website for a band here in Florida.
It's got some tweaking yet - it hasn't been transferred over to their server.
So there are a few minor inconsistencies with functionality and layout.

Just thought I would share it with you all. A lot based off a look the client was after. They thought it rocked.

peace.

I moved this because after 65 views, I only had about 5 comments. I knew I should have left it with my peeps in D&D.

Here are the main comments I have received so far.
didn't you post this original layout idea some time ago? I swear I saw it before. The animations are ok, but the framerate needs some boosting to 24+. It's really choppy and quick. Adding in some frames to all the animations wouldn't hurt either.

Graphically it's ok, but it's not very clean. I think the site is a great start, good transitions, but needs some work to tweak it up. I would also recommend labeling the navigation somehow.

I like the buttons, but that green doesn't really fit IMO

My reply so far:
thanks guys :)

frame rate is 31 right now-which animations were choppy for you? pre-loaders? - the sun animation on the home page is supposed to look a little sluggish - to give it that molten sun look...please let me know...solar system was a little jerky on my system at work today...

also on the buttons, i've got the text on the upper right - was it hard to read?

originally i was going to have some kind of glow/label for the buttons-but to keep the trendy/retro sci fi deal i opted for the "tv style" labels.

a version of the layout was posted in D&D a little bit ago - this was the fruition.

Thank you all for taking a look - tweaking yes - plenty of that left. Keep them coming!

the look is real sweet...wiith the old school techy/star trek look. I would say wave the nav buttons light up or something on rollover. Maybe just have the symbol light up thats on the button. For some reason I missed the green text that appears in the upper corner on roll over. Maybe add some sweet transitions. But other than that I think you aresitting on a gem....with a lil more detail added this could be a SOTW....IMO. I like the look and if the client loves it, you are already on top.

thanks man - I had thought of that glowing symbol deal - I'm going to have at that tonight if I can.

thank you nathan :)

also I will be working on making the first "click to enter" screen more of a screen instead of a flat looking square lol - that and an intro (which is 50%)

they are recording at the beginning of may and they have a hard sound so it will add to the mood - the song on there now is a bit old -

keep them coming ya'll!

this site was a blast to build - just the main interface alone- starting with one layer of grey and turning it into the rusted metal you see now by brushes, lighting effects, and noise filters - let a lot of creativity shine through.

first of all i really enjoy the music =)

splash - looked to me as if the console had no edge - just a jpg on a black background, which is pityful since your actual console looks good... maybe give it a little bevel or some sort of borders...

navigation - try to do something so that when you click a button and that section is already loaded, it doesn't show the animation over..
it's a bit difficult to make out the layout at first, some planets are tiny... maybe you could give them a title each (with light opacity) so we don't have to 'look' for them (we'd see names revolving around)? and maybe you should highlight the planet each time the bottom nav is used..
- As for the bottom nav, make your section titles more visible (right now they're bright green on gray, and i didn't see them at first) and they are really huge; why not place them in a little green, console-like box either right or left of your bottom nav menu ?
(sometimes these green titles overlap the 'sights' logo, which is a bit pitiful, it would look better elsewhere, smaller, with a darker green maybe
-graphicly speaking, the fff font (is it ?) is sometimes a bit hard to read, especially on the shoutbox.. maybe try a console-looking font ?
sometimes you use some strange looking graphics, on the first menu of 'sights' that does not seem to fit with the rest graphicly speaking... on the other hands i really crave the 'contact' backgroud image and the 'band' one too.

maybe you should rework some of your scroller so that they blend a bit more into the site too...

hoping this helped,

edit: oops i didn't read the previous post about the flash page - we'll good luck working with it then =)

I think you could make the splash page enter font a little better and blend into the screen a little more.

But when you enter the interface looks schweet :thumb:!
