Ok, I recently upgraded to XP, and so far I've more or less got everything under control, except for one little thing that is annoying the hell out of me: (see attachment)

does anyone know how to get rid of that little double arrow thing? It's the same way in Office's menus - how do you get rid of those? They're annoying and useless.

Thanks in advance.

Right-click the taskbar, Properties, Start Menu Tab, then hit Customize... button, then scroll all the way down the list of "features" and uncheck Personalized Menus.

That should resolve your problem.

For office, go to tools-->customize

then there should be an option to "use personalized menus" or something like that (i'm on redhat right now so i can't check for sure)...take the check mark out of that.

Hmmm...Those 've never appeared for me before, and I just KNOW I didn't switch them off... Hmm... :huh:

They only appear if you have enough applications and links to warrant their appearance. If you are using the default XP Start bar and not the old school 98 style they won't appear.

The reason some applications/folders don't get shown is that you don't use them often enough, so Windows thinks (which is always a very dangerous thing) that you don't need to see it as much, so it takes the liberty to hide it.
