Server 2000

My neighbor and I created our own internet connection. The server is sitting next door with Server 2000 installed. My machine is plugged straight into it. What are the steps in configuring my computer to display data from an access db? I have been through many tutorials and nothing has worked. A link for beginners would be great! (Yes, I have searched Google...)
