I usually only buy from people that have 200+ reviews and about 98% of them are positive. I have never been ripped off by anyone on eBay and I've bought a few computer parts from there... Just be careful. E-mail him first. See if he'll refund your money if something is wrong with the part or for some reason it gets damaged (always get insurance on electronic pieces)... just cover all your bases and you should be fine..

eBay - is of course safe. It's the sellers you gotta worry about ;). Remember that, and you'll never go wrong. With great responsibility, comes power...

A large portion of eBay items that are expensive and small are usually stolen, not that I find it bad to buy stolen goods.
When you see a 12" JL Audio W7 on eBay for $100 you know it's been jacked.
I love eBay, I probably spend about $200-300 a month on there.

I wonder how many items sold on ebay are actually stolen?
hmmm

maybe it's not a good idea to sell stolen goods on ebay.....

The problem is eBay can't tell if anything is stolen.
Unless for some case you stole someones rims. Put them on eBay and the guy you stole them from is looking on eBay for replacements on his rims and he notices the location is close to him.
Other than those rare situations, unless you tell people in your auction that the item is stolen you won't have to worry about it.

Some kids at my school... (which is private mind you, they must be total wack jobs) stole laptops from the school and sold em on ebay, they were caught tho.

Just look at his reviews, make sure he sold lots of items, and then you can trust him. Ebay usually doesn't do squat about anything... so make sure this guy has expirience.

I've had friends with great experiences on ebay. I've sold stuff on there before and it's been rock solid business dealing.
Read the reviews, and check into what kind of other products he has sold.
Go with what a good "sit back and think about it" session tells you.
