Where to start....

I'm sure that you get a lot of these questions and I'm sorry for adding to the never ending thread of these questions, but, I'm a complete newbie to action scripting and need somewhere to get started, somewhere that will tell me what each little command(I.E. preloader_sound) does and how I would use them. If anyone knows any good references, sites and/or books, please tell me, I'm desperate. I've read some of the tutorials here and I don't think that they are geared towards my newbie head lol.

a great resource for someone starting out, plus you can read through the actionscript dictionary for explanations on most-if not all- lingo...Actionscript the Definitive Guide by Colin moock is a great book....there are tons of resources..and these forums are fantastic for learning...good luck with your process :)
