I am sure this has been asked before, but I am just curious.
What do you people do in "real life"?
What I mean is - do you work for a living, are you a student that works part time or not at all, are you a bum and damn proud of it, do you have a rich family so you dont have to work....? Anything!
Please only post once though - I want to see EVERYONE reply at least once.
Thanks!

I am a student. I go to SUNY BInghamton in NY state, USA. I am an Anthropology major with a minor in Archaeology. I make websites in my spare time for extra money, because I really don't want to be working a part-time McDonald's type job while I am at school.

I am a graphic designer as an occupation.
In the past I have had many occupations, and they seem to come out every once in a while...
But generally, I am on my computer, a mere 15 ft commute, most of the time.

I'm a consultant focusing on NT server enviroments as well as developing maintaining the corporate regional intranet for the SouthEast's largest telephony company. Basically, I pray to God the stocks hold another day and bob and weave when lay offs are imminent. ASP, Database Administration, SQL, etc... Backend development.
Recently began to understand I could cut half of my expenses by learning to do the site design myself as well as the coding... So here I am.
Also, starting a new niche in Hospital wireless pdas for doctor patient information. It's amazing how much money there is to be made here. First hospital 70 pdas, a wireless system, and web app that transfers the info to the db... 3 more of these and I'm retiring...

I am in 8th grade. i go to school and make websites. i play a ton of sports but that is after i am done posting. I am a full time poster. some days i get up and post untill i go to bed, other days i get up post then go to school and think about what i am going to post. i'm like a freak on a leash but without the leash (my buddy stole it). I am the only kid that knows ANYTHING about web/graphic design, exept the kid that stole my leash, his dad does stuff with Maya for a living so after he built his comp his dad started to teach him it (i have already started to get better than him with MAX and his dad has been teaching him for a few weeks now, i just started with tutorials the other day, lol) well thats about it...i think...

we know Dan, we know :)
As for me, I "work" at my local production school. We get payed to show up (and stay), but it's more of a "self-teaching" kinda thing...
We have several workshops for ppl to mutter around in. Like woodshop (learn the basics, go nuts), kitchen/cafeteria (learn to cook, serve, whatever), EDB (learn to build websites, learn about computers in general), office ("students" here actually run the main office, right from admittance!) etc.. we have about 12-13 shops...
As for me, I'm in EDB. We have several small customers (nothing fancy, we're not proffesional). Tha magic of these workshops is, that you don't have to know ANYthing about websites (ie) when you first show up. You just pick up a book, sit down at one of the com's, and start reading/learning.
I'm currently getting the hang of DreamWeaver (a MUST buy!). On the side out there, I run around teaching a little Flash and Photoshop for the newbies... they know JACK about it.. or..err.. they didn't before I came along...
My "teacher" uses me as head designer... I'm in FULL charge of designing layouts and crap for new sites.
One of my friends out there is in charge of ASP coding and stuff... he's a wiz at that...! :o
Other than that I spend all the time I can with my girlfriend (soon to be fiance ;)), and pick up stuff from online tutorials here and there...

In 10th grade. I play a lot of sports and also spend a lot of time on the computer. I get good grades, so between all this I'm pretty busy. I don't currently have a girlfriend, but I do have some great friends that are girls. I have done a little freelancing in the past, but it's hard when I'm in school.

In my full time position, I work the Marketing Communications department for an EMI Shielding and Thermal Management manufacturer.
I am responsible for the company website, trade show coordination, literature, endless meetings that don't accomplish anything, and interactive CD-ROM presentations.
basically any and every facet of company branding.
<b>In my spare time, I drink beer. Miller Light to be exact.</b>
In my spare-spare time, I develop websites on the side. I currently have four clients that are consistently giving me update work. So that some nice extra monthly income.
and in my spare-spare-spare time I dress in coveralls, put on a hockey mask and hack up the teenagers around silver lake with my blood stained machete.

I'm a dog! ruff ruff!
Actually, I'm a 10th Grade student in Sarnia Ontario Canada. I have a part time job working for the city at Arena's. (Tickets, mostly). Supposedly during the summer I get in to all the concerts free, but I haven't experienced it yet, I started only 4.5 months ago.
I play basketball and football a lot, as far as sports goes, and spend a wee bit too much time on the comp. It's taking away from my PS2 time. That poor little bugger... When's she gonna get another high quality game I can drown 72 hours of my life in?
I would do design mumbo-jumbo, but I dunno how to get started, I guess I need one of them portfolio mabobs.

I am a 12th Grade High School Student. I work at Best buy part time. And part time (rarely) my uncle has someone call me to come fix their computer for money.
