My name is Chris and I am the owner of Flip5media.com. I live in Columbus, Ohio, however, the staff is spread around the world. (Just trying to follow forum rules :))

I was contacted the other day by a friend saying he needed a new hosting site. We negotiated some prices and got one set.

The layout is covered, however, our coder is busy with school exams and won't be able to complete the project. So I'm looking for someone to fill his shoes on this project.

I need someone that is good with Flash MX or MX 2004 and can produce quality animations, as that will be what the bulk of the project will be.

The aim for this project is to have a site with similar effects (by no means a rip) of 2Advanced. The client is looking for that kind of feel though.

My graphics designer is putting a layout together now. When he is done, the person hired for this project will need to slice the layout and add flash animations to the site.

The client is getting another friend of his to code the site, so no backend coding will be necessary.

I am offering $85 for this project. It's not a lot, but if you are a designer looking to get some client experience and some portfolio work, this might be a good opportunity for you. You will need a verified PayPal account, as that is how you will be paid.

If you are interested, email me: E-Mail Link (chris@flip5media.com). Please include ALL portfolio work as well as where you are located (country/state).

This project needs to be done in about two weeks. The graphics designer is pretty quick, so you should have a week and a few days to work on this.

If you have any questions, please do not post in this thread, but rather use the e-mail link I've posted above to contact me.

Thanks

Is anyone interested in the job? Go ahead and post in the thread if you are. I don't know if I haven't got e-mails or if my e-mail isn't working. Sometimes the delay on e-mail messages is off.

Let me know as I need to get someone to do this project.

I'm not interested in the job, but I'm just voicing a friendly opinion. At $85, you most probably aren't going to get somebody that can produce 2advanced quality animations. Most of the people who do that kinda thing I looking for the upper hundreds in dollars. That being said, you might be able to get someone really good (I like blastboy's work :thumb: ) because its only the animation, and no design/backend coding. Just some thoughts. Good luck on the project

I totally understand. I don't expect to get 2Advanced animations, but it needs to have that kind of feel. I know it's not much, but Flip5media is just getting started. We have to start somewhere.

Warning: Do not work with Illusionfxnet. They offered me a price for the site, and we had completed the layout. The agreement was that upon completion of the layout that 50% would be paid. Well, the layout was done and the guy wanted an entire new color scheme. We did this, and then changed some fonts that he wanted changed. However, he was still not happy. End result -- we never got paid a dime. I was contacted by the co-owner yesterday. I am good friends with him, and he offered to pay what was owed. However, it's just not worth the trouble. The owner is picky and thinks that he can run things the way he sees fit.

As a web designer, one must know that you are offering a service and that you have to maintain a professional attitude and realize the client is above you. However, Illusionfxnet stretched this to a level that a designer can't feel secure in.

We are still accepting applications for programmers. I have a lot of applications for the graphics position. Right now we just don't have enough clients for that.

However, we do need some people that are good with PHP/MySQL and ActionScript would be nice as well.

Again, link to application is: http://www.flip5media.com/application.html

If you would like to see the work we've done thus far, contact me via Link (chris@flip5media.com)

I've heard about this problem at diffrent places.
is there a way to protect yourself or your company against such problems?

BTW, have you received my message?

Contracts. Sign a contract, and everything is in black and white on the paper. More often than not, the fear of bringing a company to court (and obviously winning if your case is what you say it is) will scare a company enough into paying up. Usually going to court ends up costing the company 10 fold what it would just to pay you straight up, like the contract said they would. Mind you, bringing your clients to court isn't exactly perfect, because more likely than not they will not recommend you to other companies. You need to weigh your options heavily. But usually the contract is assurance enough. Hope that helps.

Do you have any advice for writing up a good contract? I could write one up, but the world has a way of striving to take things out of context to get away with things.

Also, how do you get both parties to sign if your client isn't local. Do scanners of fax machines work in those situations?

Not the one I was looking for, but still good (http://www.roostergraphics.com/ADMIN/forms/FwebDesign.html)

If you can post the other one when you find it, both will make great bookmarks. :)
