i dunno but im absolutely sure there is no fixed pixel size for any printing job - you can print a 4"x4" image of a 2x2 pixels... It will though be very ugly...
All that matters is width/height ratio... (okay the easy way - get your document size in inches/cm whatever and pump up the resolution to more thant 300dpi...)

no reason to go to 300dpi or over if it's just a business card... I'd say 100-200 dpi...
Just search for the measures on a business card on google or something... not in pixels tho, cm or inches...

other way around sure shot 3.5 wide 2 high. And 300 dpi depending on the card is good. For a simple black text on white card 100-150 is good...

To do your business card you design it using the inches measurement. 2 inches by 3.5 inches (I believe). Then if you want to take it to a printer you make sure its in at least 300 dpi. If your using a standard printer at home you use the dpi of 133. Why 133 dpi...well it is a strange amount but after going to several seminars of professionals they said in a complicated technical manner that the printers don't print at top quality anyways so after several tests they have achieved the top quality at 133 dpi. Whether you want to believe them or me is up to you....that's just what I use. That's what we used in the company as standards and those are the reasons for them.

thats good to know Shazmax, thanks, though for standard home printing i use 150dpi, i might try that 133dpi trick and see how it goes. It wouldnt be much diffent anyway, would it?
like others have said, a standard dimension to business cards are
90mm X 55 mm (3.5 X 2 inches) at a resolution of 300dpi.
i actually like my cards a little smaller in width since they fit more comfortably in wallets, so when i can i try to do them at 52-53mm width.

do not forget the all important bleed area......rule of thumb is add like an 1/8th of a inch to all edges.
