Honestly,
I love the red backgrounds!
The render looks amazing man. Really good job.
I'd think that the orange one needs a little brighter border, but thats just me.
It looks great man, keep it up!
thanks

red one rocks, I like the pattern work faded into it.
whats the deal with the font size though?
pares101
March 7th, 2004, 11:27 PM
Well i dont know what to do about the font size since if i put a pixel font , there wont be alot of text to fill up that space! having a problem with that.

I like the second one the best. They all look good though.
I don't quite understand what you're talking about, not having enough text. But there's no way in heck I'd ever go with a font size that big.

add some leading (space between two lines of type) , tracking(space between words in a sentence) to the type, maybe some graphical elements inside the box. typography methods to fill space.

Also, don't make the box fill up the whole page like that. Just have it do a section and maybe have another box with your logo in it or some sort of catch phrase or I dunno.

i was going to suggest the same thing as xxxviii - just size the
content boxes to the text, and not to the whole BG. It looks tacky
and like you're trying to fill the space. Use your space wisely
and only what you need.

JUST CURIOUS. WHAT POSSESSES ANYONE TO USE UPPER CAPS ON BODY TEXT? UPPER CAPS ARE HARDER FOR THE USER TO READ. WE ARE VISUAL BEINGS AND SO WE DON'T ACTUALLY READ WORDS LETTER BY LETTER. WE SEE FAMILIAR OUTLINES OF THE WORDS AND THAT IS HOW WE DETERMINE ONE WORD FROM ANOTHER WHILE READING. USING UPPER CAPS JUST HINDERS OUR INSTINCT TO READ BY SHAPES AND QUICKLY GET THROUGH THE CRAP WE ARE READING. PLEASE, SOMEONE ENLIGHTEN ME AS TO WHY SOME PEOPLE USE UPPER CAPS FOR THEIR BODY TEXT. IF YOU DON'T THINK WHAT I'VE SAID IS TRUE YOU CAN LOOK IT UP OR JUST THINK OF HOW ANNOYED YOU ARE RIGHT NOW HAVING HAD TO READ WHAT I'VE SAID ALL WRITTEN IN UPPER CASE LETTERS. PRETTY ANNOYING EH?

Hmm, you should change the purple background. Doesn't really work with red :).

Looks nice but you can do better than that, what kinda font is that, can you use anything more classical?? Work on it even now that it's the final version...

I'm a design student in NZ, so here's my 2 cents:
Cons:
- Red text on white background, not a good combo, especially on a monitor
- Capital text, keep the text simple.
- The girl. Half her back is cut off, try flipping her and pushing her further right, so it's like she's only half there. (If you use her at all, it may be discouraging to some users, aka womyn like me!)
- Sound. If you're gonna use it, do more than just beeps. And you MUST give the user an option to turn it off!
- Opacity. It makes file sizes larger, and processors run slower. I think it's alright considering the simple-ness of your site, but if the content becomes larger or more graphically intense, use a different transition.
- Continuity! keep the same fonts for <p> etc, and your quotes pop-up looks like it comes from another website entirely.
Now for the nice stuff!
Pros:
- It's clear, without being too simple. (very important!)
- You've allowed room for the site to grow
- The image of the site is nicely defined
- The animation is smooth without being processor intensive
- Loading is quick
- Navigation is easy to use, very user friendly.
I agree with the above, work in progress, but definitely a nice one :)
Good luck!
Blu
PS
Think long and hard about who you're targeting your business to, and what image you want to show them. Ask yourself if this is the right image for you...

i wish i could make sick images like that in 3dsmax, where to gather this valued information. Guide my hungry heart to such a place.
