i am wondering if tripod allows music videos on sites. i have a green day video that i got off of some one web page. i compressed it so it doesnt takt to long to load.

the reason i am asking this is because of copyright and i heared that some sites are getting shut down for having music.

thanks :(

Why not just try doing it.

If you get in trouble, just tell them the Devil told you to do it and twitch a lot? :goatee:

well if the question is do they SUPPORT movie files then i think it is yes. do they let you have copyrighted things? well i think that if you 1. ask perssion from Green Day's label
2. give them credit
then you should be fine.

Alex, one word of advice, whatever you do, make sure you have a back up or copy of your site on your computer so if anything happens, you'll still have a copy of your site.

Well keep in mind that tripod has very limited bandwidth. Having people download full video files from your site will use up that bandwidth.

I believe if you reach your limit, your site gets a time out for about 24 hours or something. In that time, every viewer will just get a message saying the page reached its bandwidth limit and cannot be viewed.

I am sure they wont let you do it.

I have some friends who had some some small vid's up and Geocities just deleted their sites and sent them an email saying "copyright infringment" or something like that.

They lost their accounts too. I think they have a Zero tollerence thing going...

Yeah, I once had a fan site at www.freeyellow.com (way way back in the day) and they shut it down for copywrite reasons.

Alex, why are you playing a video off your site? You're using Angelfire, don't they have a limit on bandwidth? If so, you'll kill your bandwidth quickly if you stream a video off your site. Just something to keep in mind.

for some reason the video doesnt shut down. i keep playing it for atleast 13 times and it still doesnt shut down.

Alex.... the video may play in Win Media Player, but you are distributing it. Distributing copywrite material that you are not licensed to distribute is illegal.

And if it plays in Win Media Player, it only has to download once, then your system reads it from your cache. It will get used up quick if multiple viewers watch it.

Man why dont you just link to it? Or instead of having that as an intro, make one in Flash yourself.
