recently started to have double visions so i went to the optomitrist to prescribe a pair of contact lenses. I have glasses but i don't always put them on and sometimes just plainly forgot if i'm too engross in work. :nerd:

Turns out, left eye was long-sighted and has astigmatism, the right eye was short-sighted with no astigmatism.
Kinda weird how both eyes differ sooo much. Seems like one of my eye isn't working as much as the other one. :eye: :eye:

And according to my friends, i'm always staring way too close at the computer screen without blinking my eyes...

And i always have neck and back and eye aches... so i guess my seating posture is really off.

anyone else designer/programmer with the same problems... i'm sure most of us do.

anyone with perfect eye sight over here? :sen: i'm so jealous :to:

Unless you're a Jet Fighter pilot, no need for perfect eye sight - correction lenses will do the trick for you...
I mean who, nowadays, can be considered perfect ?

You really dont need to be jealous... (well.. maybe of jet pilots then....)

i got a small case of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. thats why i was away from the forums for a while a few weeks back.

All good now, had to stop ps2 games :!: actually all games, (one level from finishing Prince of Persia SOT as well :( ) still playing bball and working on the computer, but gave it a rest for a least 2 weeks.

I'm not 'perfect' but I'm close to it.

I can have a VERY slight prescription for reading small print, but the optomotrist said I was in tip top shape other than that.

I had to go cause I thought maybe something with my vision was giving me these terrible headaches. Turns out there's nothing wrong with my eyes - which is strange since I'm the only one in my family who doesn't need them.

I'm starting to think I'm adopted :-/

I have slight headaches all the time from looking at a computer screen too much. I've got glasses too. Soulty, what exactly does that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome do to you ?

I had double vision in middle school. I went to "therapy" for it. Basically it was an hour or so a week at the eye doctors office where Id do little eye training activities to help my eyes learn to focus together. I did similar things at home.

One of the exercises was to put a bunch of beads on a string. Then tie one end to a doorknob and hold the other end up to your nose. First, you were supposed to put the beads to where you could get both eyes to focus on them (and see one bead of that particular bead and not two from the double vision). Then, move those beads around getting closer and closer to your face making sure you put effort into moving your eyes so they could both focus on the one bead. Its kind of like looking at those 3D pictures where you can screw with your eyes' focus and see the 3D image in the mess of colors... only this was the opposite.

It wasnt very fun. I ended up telling my mother at one point I was cured though I wasnt fully. I also felt bad about her spending so much money for me to get that done. And this was all before I had my face planted in a computer screen all the time ;)

I still have a little bit of double vision now sometimes, but not enough for it to bother me.

I have perfect eye sight :(
I guess that's why I suck as a programmer, I'm not geeky enough:*(

@ voets: (too hard in english, sorry): quand tu as mal aux ligaments a force d'utiliser la souris suite a une mauvaise position des avant-bras sur le bureau..

@sen: cool, so you can work on two screens at the same time? :D
nice too when you see a good-looking girl, get twins for the price of one...

I also use lenses/wear glasses, but never get headaches from the comp, only my back kills me, too lazy to sit straight..

Ouch ! I'm sorry to hear that man ..

I get sharp pains too sometimes ... like in my longs. I breathe in and it's suddenly like a knife going through my longs or hart, I don't know. Well, others at school have this too so I guess it's nothing to worry about ...

Thanks for that :)

Is it what I think it is, you know, that tintling feeling when you are sitting on your leg and not letting enough blood pass through to your leg ? Or with your arm, yes ... Yeah, I think that's it. I think everyone has that once in a while.

Nope, that's nothing, it just goes away in a few minutes, what he speaks about is an inflamation of the nerves which can get really bad, kinda like a tennis elbow or stuff like that!

There are a couple of things you can do to prevent corpal tunnel... The one exercise I'd recommend is the praying hand.

1. Put your hands together as if you were praying in front of your body.

2. Leave your hands together and slowly start to move them down towards your feet... keeping your elbows straight.

Continue this a couple of times... it'll stretch the muscles and ligaments in your wrist and arms.

Take this as a hint from a long time computer gamer / video game player / programmer. ;)

Never had corpal.. And I don't plan on getting it anytime soon either..

As for glasses... Both parents had bad eyes... So do I.. Since I was 4... Actually.. :) Probably from playing so **** much Nintendo though... I was extremely addicted... Got it when it first came out... Was :D :D :D

Only do it when your arms or wrists seem to be getting tired or strained though... Don't overdue it. :)

lol. I may be laughing Soulty but I know how much my fitness level has dropped in the last year just from working infront of a computer and I do know some people who never exercise. Yada, yada, yada.....we're all getting fat and we're all going to get diabetes......you've heard it all.

Well... Looking at America.... It's sad.. I was in Japan once.. And I may have only seen 2 overweight people... 2 out of.. thousands....

I walk through my mall.. And I may see about.. 20 decent looking women (not skrawny mind you) but good figured and looking decent... out of.. hundreds of people...

And this seems to be everywhere I go... It truly is sad... ;P

But anyways... Soulty is pretty athletic bro.. if I remember.. he plays basketball frequently and is quite good at it :) Kinda reminds me of me when I was around his age.. good at bball and loved working with the computer and learning new things.

I'm like 1.25 in my left eye and 1.0 in my right eye. A bit of sigmatism to. I can survive without corrective lenses most of the time but if I'm watching tv or at school I need them.

sounds tough, senocular... i wouldn't have the patience to practise that too...

that's a good excercise Marz... although i always do that with my knees straighten as well....

about the sharp pain... i get them everytime... everywhere... the sharp pain can travel too... like right now i have the sharp pain on my left thumb, all i have to do is press on that throbbing spot to ease the pain....
and then suddenly that pain move on to my upper left arm...

is that coz my blood circulation is not free flowing or something... i hope i don't accumlate blood clots all over my body from sitting at one place for too long...

Hmm...
I don't wear glasses, don't seem to need them.
At one point, I went to the eye doctor, and was told I needed to wear glasses, so I got some prescribed, and wore them for a whole 2 years (my school pictures were dumb looking). I stopped wearing them, because a: I never noticed a difference between them being on or off, I could see just fine either way, and b: it drives me CRAZY to have anything right in front of my face. To this day, I cannot wear sunglasses or any kind of mask at at all!!
The other thing: I've never had any kind of problems with my hands/wrists. I've been using computer keyboards since I was 2 years old, typing, or playing games. I think, perhaps, that my hands have sort of shaped themselves in a way to optimize the way I type... or something... my wife tells me that I have creepy long hands, and they look like Velocaraptor claws... i don't type like most people. I don't follow the Home Keys at all, by the time I was taught in school about the Home Keys, i was already able to type faster, and more efficiently with my own method... (I get about 100 wpm when I type my way, and only about 70 wpm with the home keys)... in fact, one of my Typing teachers tried to fail me because when she watched me type, I wasn't using the Home keys... when I out-typed her, she passed me with a C-...
Score one for the freaks of Nature.

Yes, they are. In fact, my best friend at school also has this and he plays football whenever he gets the chance to.

I see perfectly... although all I do is look at the computer screen... and all my friends who don't do that even half as much as I do can barely see the third row of the sight-check-thingy-on-da-wall from 7 metres (like the symbols like... 2.5 inches or sth) :-/
