View Full Version : Food that you wish never was invented

Taking off from Fester's rather blunt statement on Mayo, I want to hear all of your worst thing ever invented story...

No vegetables, meats, etc. Let's keep this to invented things..

My personal gut wrencher is curry. That's right, a Red Dwarf fan who can't stand curry. I can't even eat Tandori Chicken, because to me, it tastes like curry. I can't go into the restaurant to order for my gf, I almost loose my lunch just walking in the door...

My gf's fav dish from her youth in Jamaica, is a curry dish, and I can't cook it, since I can't taste it... plus the smell just makes me irritable at best...

Weird I know, I think I know why I have this adversion, but that is a story for another day (someone on this board used to be married to an absolute personification of Lucifer on earth, but I won't say who)...

So, what is it that you would rather smear pimple jizz on your food than have ______ ?

I will just repost from my last thread, to set the mood properly :beam:

**********

Maynoaise is the single most disgusting substance on the planet. There is no excuse for it and it should have never been invented. I would rather some leper ridden, HIV infected BUM with ebola urinate and then take a nice liquid dump on my sandwich before I would ever conceive the notion of spreading that horrible shiat on my lunch.

Low-Carb Fast Food.

Let's just be serious. It's not the carbs in your Double Whopper w/ cheese King Size Fries and King Size Soda (my girlfriend says Pop) that is the reason for your fat arse.

It's your whole nutrition and diet. The above meal tallies in at around 2,400 Calroies... um that's your total intake for the whole day. So knock off the fries and the buns and we're still talking about 14-1500 calories.

It just makes me sick this whole Idea of of it's Low Carb I'm so healthy. Like that KFC commercial where one guy is like

"Hey former fat guy, you're sure looking great, what's your secret."

Former fat guy yet still very unhealthy is like "Oh I jsut eat that fat battered chicked from KFC."

And they both have a moment of reflection...

..It all saddends me very much.

no thor say it isn't so.

I agree Ethan. People need to eat real food.

Some of the things over the years:

Black Eyed Peas - this and ham growing up on New Year's- yuck.

Brussel Sprouts and Asparagus - The smell makes me want to vomit.

Squash- I can actually somewhat eat some of it now in soup. But this plain stuff ain't happening.

Tea - Yes I am from the south and abhor tea. Just the smell again makes me gag. I've only been able to drink about 8 ounces at once my entire life.

Give me lemonade any day.

Any Mexican food such as tacos, doritos, quesadillas, etc. I absolutely cannot stand the sight nor smell of the food. No amount of hot sauce can eradicate the smell and taste that almost all Mexican foods seem to share. Mexican food to me is what mayo is to fester and curry is to rev.

meat! everyone is eating animal corpses without thinking about it... but that is something everybody has to decide by himself. ;)

Mushrooms (except on pizza, or "special mushrooms") and raisins. Raisins are everywhere, and either you like them, or you hate it to buy a pastry, are really looking forward to eat it, and then find out that it's contaminated with raisins *argh* :skull:

Now as for food that I cannot stand....

What's food I wish was never invented?

This one is easy ...

Those stupid "milk and cereal" bars! DEAR GOD they taste SOOO bad! It's like a monkey walked into my kitchen, took a crap, and out came those breakfast bars

The Chicken Turnovers here at Penn State are a close second though.

well, I like everything except:

ONIONS!!!!!!!
well, actually they aren't that bad, it's just the aftertaste - makes me want to vomit.

honestly though, I'm having trouble coming up with a food I don't like or wouldn't try. Relish is a maybe, but I'd be willing to try them, pickels too (although they smell funny). Insects are also a maybe, I've considered eating them on the occasion, but I can't really think of something I don't like to eat - so....

Rev: don't like curries?!?!? my my, you are an odd ball.

Fester: Mayo. I like the stuff, especially the garlic flavoured ones. Mmmm.

28: hate mustard? woah, there is a first

Yeldarb: honey mustard?! woah, even bigger suprise than 28! (mmm, honey... and mustard)

Lasslett: what the hell is sweede euch?

rere: I admit you would have to be stark raving mad to try some (like the purple ones, which are in the book of records) - but I like them anyway

thor: *faints* I love the stuff!!

prs: *faints... again* well, except for the brussel sprouts, those aren't to tasty.

k-man: ¿no mexican? aye-carrumba!

mcgiver: mmm. corpses. I love meat! I like mushrooms, just not cooked, then they become tasteless. I like raisins too. mmm mmm.

bm: never tried them but... :pa: they look good...

I can tell you a number of things I dislike..

ALL FAST FOOD CAN GO TO HELL! That';s the number one reason for fat ***** in America.

Or how about some greasy assed fries to go with your clogged arteries...

I've eaten Mexican food from various restaurants, etc. in various parts of the country, and I never liked it. I haven't eaten Mexican food for at least 3 years now, and I have no regrets at all. Maybe the restaurants were bad - I don't know. I would rather eat Chinese/Japanese/Indian foods and Curry anyday :P

today was picture cutting day. I found all the pictures of my ex-gf, busted out the sissors and got to cuttin'. I also found a three year old candy bar (it was an inside thing between my and my ex) well i ate that. :) So then i proceed to have a 8itch bond fire (pictures smell funny when you burn them). *lol* she called me today too... Her: "hi" Me: "have you noticed we haven't talked for a while?" Her: "umm yea" Me: "let's keep it that way" *click* :)

edit, i missed my whole point: Candy bars are still good after 3 years :)

Invented: mustard ( what kinda taste is that?!?

Natural: Garlic... i don't like the taste and the smell... although sometimes i eat them without noticing if chopped into very very small micro pieces.

well, i guess, to each, it's own....
i have to say i love curry though, esp Thai's green curry chicken.... yum... Thai foods are such appetizers, hot and spicy. Chinese food is my fave though. :)

all sushi, or a particular dish?

or do you have something against rice (sushi is the rice, sashimi is the fish) ?

it all tastes so differently from each other, I don't understand how a blanket "sushi" can be disliked, is all.

Sushi always comes with sashimi doesn't it? You would know better anyway, rev ;) Can you please clear up on this?

reverendflash
January 29th, 2004, 11:14 AM
nope.

sushi houses usually sell raw fish with their rice, seasoned, etc.

There are a ton of diff flavors. If you are just repulsed by the thought of sushi (like I am with menudo), that is still fine, but it isn't some flavor that makes you run the other way...

I would suggest trying "Tekka Makke" the next time you are forced into a sushi house. It is simply Ahi Tuna with wasabe (spicy) wrapped in Nori (seaweed wrapper). It tastes quite mellow (fishy-wise), and actually melts on your tongue, due to the high fat content of the Tuna. It really is quite good, and I'm not a fish fan by any means.

that is what they tell me. it still looks like someone did something quite rude in the bowl...

I rarely get hangovers. There is a recipe, which guarantees no hangover, no matter what you drink (well, within reason)...

so I haven't had to try your "hangover soup" yet...

still repulses me to think of it...

I hate Designer Whey Protein with water. Drinking 2 of those a day makes me just about shiat in my pants just to get the nasty taste out of my sytem. Especially if you let it sit for a little bit after you mix it.

Protein Drink + Air = Shiat Nuggets in a Glass

Sometimes I catch myself plugging my nose when I drink it. The main thing about it is that it may taste mediocre for the first week, but if you drink it twice a day, every day, it makes you turn homicidal in the gym. You take my bench I'll rip out your lower jaw with a hot poker rammed straight up your back end.

Did that explain my hate enough?

Have to say I'm with Fester on the mayonnaise thing. The difficulty I have trying to buy a sandwich for lunch that doesn't have mayonnaise in it... Everything does! And I hate it! :a:

Other things I hate would be coleslaw (too similar to mayonnaise in my view), ketchup (icky), liver (bleurgh)...

Fast food in general I hate. I won't eat a burger unless I've basically cooked it myself.

Oh, I don't like cream either. Dunno why. I see all these gorgeous cakes, then someone covers it in cream and it's just a tragedy.

On the other hand, I love sprouts. :)

I dislike Soda very much. I used to be a daily consumer, like a lot of other Americans, but i parted ways with it, and have not missed it since. Now i drink fruit juices, herbal teas, and lots of ice water.

I also dont like mushrooms (the non-effective kind hehehe), or guacamole. Im not too big on seafood either, as it all smells about the same to me... (but i did have some great calamari at the Macaroni Grill... Mmmmm)

...and i agree with fester, mayonaise is pretty nasty.... They should just call it cellulite inducer...

EDIT: Canned Corn!! I hate it.. Frozen corn is fine, but the canned corn just tastes completely different. I know hate is a powerful word, but i feel that it is justified, in this case... :)
