Kirupa mIRC Channel

yo king and neone else,

have u ever thought about making a channel on IRC. It would be pretty nice to chat it up and perhaps have live help instead of waiting for someone to respong. I thought it would be a sweet idea. Anyway i can set one up if u like. We could give it a shot....any thoughts??

How about we all try to find a time where more than 4 of us can chat? A good 2 or 3 hour block where everybody knows that a chat is going on would help to get a lot more people interested :D

Sure we laughed, cried, made fun of Alex, maybe even helped each other, but the IRC never made it through. Eventually, people started leaving the channel until it finally phased out. And that made me a very sad panda :panda:>>:(. But yes, if we can get a decent number of people on it again, i'm sure we can make it thrive.

How about sometime Friday evening (EST Time Zone)? I or anybody else can make a thread about it in Random. Better yet, we can have one thread that acts like a sign-in sheet. If somebody is in the IRC, just bump that thread, and anybody who happens to be in Random at that time, may feel inclined to join in on the fun also :beam:

It might even be just about possible(although difficult) to write a hack or something for vBulletin that uses PHP to connect to an IRC channel and read who's there, and put that on a page.

Or a sign-in sheet would work as well ;)

Wow that is neat! I'll mess around with that script sometime later, and see if I can get IRC convos displayed on a small section on the footer throughout the site and forums. That would be really nice :P

just curious kman... do you know PHP?

Cause those things are more libraries.. you still need to do most of the programming ;)

Hmm - good point. No I do not....I didn't look too much into them. I guess they aren't the extract zip file, copy a few files in, run the install.php script, and watch it work type things :)

sk8ting, just any time would also work. If there was to be a little sign-in thread, if that thread happens to have been bumped recently, chances are a few people would be in IRC at that time :ogre:

hence the problem. 4-11pm UK time = 8AM-3PM PST (a very difficult time for a lot of us to "chat")... Then we also leave out Austrailia, The Philippines, Hawaii, etc.

It is difficult to plan a time which is convenient to both Europe and the Pacific...

tell ya what, since i officially have no life, (or one away from the computer in anycase) and since i am on IRC all the time, and since i know you guys are reviving it, i will personally be on as much as possible. not that it would be such a great help. but at least there will generally be a lurker if no one else is around. :)

i was also thinking that people can set up their fserve and allow people to get their .fla files. If people name the files e.g. "good use of motion tween", then it will be a great way to use it. Its always good to learn by hand and see it
