please help on this image

hi guys,

I have attached an image which has on the edge of the man has a lighting a glow effect. What do you call this effect and how can I do this in photoshop?

I hope someone can help me, i'd like to search kirupa but i don't know the exact effect of this.

hmm, it's just called a glow. cut out whatever you want to make glow, double click on the layer it's on, go to "Outer Glow" and have a blast.

hey AP, with regards to the image i've attached, do you mean I have to cut the whole edge of a man? and then go to blending option and select glow? I am using a lasso to remove the background of the man? Is this the right way to cut an image? I'm sorry have lots of questions, don't have a formal traingin in PS. I'm just learning it by my own. Now, I'd like to learn it from a pro like you guys.

yeah, you have to cut the man. =D coz if you dont, then the whole pic will have the glow and that would just kill the whole effect. =D good luck ! :thumb:

yeah, you would have to cut out the background and you could do that with the lasso tool. I learned it on my own too, it just takes a little bit of time and experimentation.
