View Full Version : Anyone hear about....?

Anyone here about the teen who stood over an overpass with a giant chunk of ice?

He was waiting for a car to pass, and when one did he threw the chunk of ice down at the car, it went through the windshield and killed the passenger.

The passenger was a mother, whos husband was driving and whos 3 kids were sitting in the back seat.

The teen was caught after he was caught bragging to all his friends at school today about the incident.

It makes me sick to hear stuff like this. There was no need for him to be doing that, and at that cost a life has been taken and a family has been traumatized. He was 15, he should have known better, it was not like he was 7 or something. He was a 15 year old who knew exactly what he was doing and hurled that ice at the car not caring about it. People like that make me sick, seriously.

Luckily he is being charged as an adult and is facing homicide and other charges.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Yeah, it took me a while to find a good news post on the internet about it, it is all over the news stations here now.

It happened in Philadelphia, PA, where I live. And people wonder why I hate it here so much. It is filled with such cold heartless people.

I can't imagine killing someone. It's so horrible. This kid is a moron. He should get a long time in prision to think about what he did.

Lost I heard about a similar story which involved a teen dropping a large rock from a freeway overpass and it crushed a child's skull.

It is just unbelievable that there are people who could carry out these kind of senseless acts....:(

When the original story came on the news they were saying a kid did it, a young kid. Which I can understand how a little kid might not understand the consequences of his actions, unexcusable for many reasons, but makes sense.

But then I found out it was a 15 year old who hurled a 20lb chunk of ice at a car from an overpass, now that is definitely on purpose and he knew what he was doing. The first article states that he did it to another car but merely dented it and no one was injured. I guess he thought he could get away with it again.

i'll believe the higher theft rate. i was just there recently and it's a jungle of people. i mean seriously, if NY were the amazon, all its leaves and creatures would be the people. sidewalks are crowded everywhere. cars are jammed at each road. stores are filled with people, giving opportunities to steal and such. but hey, NY is a great place.

Wow so Philadelphia has the higher theft and violence rate... just peachy.

My girlfriend caught a 7 year old and an 11 year old stealing from the store she works in. They were communicating over walkie talkies and keeping an eye out for eachother. They caught the 7 year old and the 11 year old got away, but they were still just talking over the walkie talkies like nothing happened.

The store owner was forced by law to release the 7 year old as he was a minor.

stuff like that does happen... today a kid, who looked older than 15 did a very similar thing.. i was on a public bus and then this kid throws a chunk of ice on the bus... luckily it just hit the back of the bus.. nothing really happened... but it still made this guy look like a jerk...

on topic though, i hope this kid and his friends learned that jerking around isnt fun... it can really cause lots of damage.. i feel sorry for that lady's family.. this is sad...

And about how close, yet so so so very far I am at achieving the roller coaster effect in Actionscript...lol.

This is the world I live in!

(the above was done in AS)

thoriphes

here's the code for all you lovers and haters out there:

text = "heehee, i love this, i'm typing this in an actionscript window";
fin = "";
end = text.length;
size = 0;
incr = 1;
maxSize = 7;
for (i=0; i<end; ++i)
{
if (text.charAt(i) != " ") {
size += incr;
}
fin += ""+text.charAt(i)+"";
if (size>maxSize-1 && incr>0) {
incr = -incr;
}
if (size == 1 && incr<0) {
incr = -incr;
}
}
trace(fin);

now just change whatever text is, run the script (insert it anywhere), then copy/paste the stuff from the output window.

oh i see, it's in php form. thanks :)

lostinbeta
January 11th, 2003, 02:03 AM
I was actually reworking my code (and it looked almost like yours), and it partially worked, but there were some bugs, but the code I originally wrote and started with with was...

myText = "Welcome to the original script";
_root.onEnterFrame = function() {
i++;
j++;
if (i>=5) {
i = 1;
}
if (j>myText.length-1) {
delete _root.onEnterFrame;
}
coast = ""+myText.charAt(j-1)+"";
_root.getCoast += coast;
};

If anyone is interested. I tried to go for as simple as possible, didn't work out well that way.

I output it to a textbox with a scrollbar (personal taste here)

Bad things are done by idiots every day...

Hopefully, we learn from these idiots.

Phil:

how do you murder a .3 of a person?

Murder
NY 8.9
Chi 22.7
Phi 20.3

is this per day, per week, or per Phil's estimate?

and to think kids are throwing obsticals from fwy overpasses, well thats just silly...
