Wow, that's actually really well thought out... the Canadian government must have realised that they couldn't hope to stop music piracy so given up and let people do it :)

Those are the least stupid politicians I've heard of in a while :P

Found this on a link via Google News: http://www.dw-world.de/english/0,3367,1431_A_1230167_1_A,00.html Supposedly German Kazaa'ers may get in trouble.

Who would have thought? :P

sharing music in p2p networks was legal in germany till they passed a law against that last august.

some companies (i.e. sony, but don't ask me why) even pay lawyers to search the internet for german music sources like websites.

I guess Kuba, North Korea (ok, little disadvantage here, because they expect people with internet to be traitors and inprison them, but I guess filesharing would be legal there), and Myanmar do give a f++ about music industry rights too.
And all of them have friendlier climate.

...So what other advantages does canada offer me :P

*clears throat*

Oh Canada, terre de nos aieux
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux
Car ton bras sait porter l'epee
Il sait porter la croix
Ton histoire est une epopee,
Des plus brilliants exploits
Et ta valeur, de foi trempee
Protegera nos foyers et nos droits
Protegera nos foyers et... nos... droits!!!!!!

*sits down*

Yeah... I can't remember the last thing I downloaded. I think it was an mp3 my sister's school band recorded. :-/ I buy all my music, movies, and whatever else people like to download these days.

In newer times I hate buying cd's in stores, because my PC can only read few of them, and I prefer listening to my music on a minidisc/mp3 player (even in my car) or on my computer.
If here was any fair and legal mp3 service I would probably make use of it.

but at the moment it's kind of schizophrenic. The only way to get those mp3s is illegal.

I seriously won't buy anything from sony anymore.

by the way.
the guy in that article kirupa postet had 6000 mp3's on his PC.

seriously? so you'd rather pay for something you can get free as well? i think the air is filled with hypocrisy up in here. why not use excellent methods when they are available? i am totally pro-downloading music, seriously, cd's are waaaaaaaaaaay to expensive, and music is really important to me, so i'm not gonna spend $50 a week to listen to music, when i can get them for free. there, i said it, now shoot me :)

McGiver

I don't download music in that extend that this 50$ service would pay off.
if there was a cheap (talking about something like 0.25€/song), relyable service offering music, i would go that way.

DarkChild
June 9th, 2004, 09:03 AM
imo 25 cents is even way too much, let's say you have about 1000 mp3s times 0.25€ that's 250 € man, for some stupid music, yeah right
as long as there's kazaa, soulseek, whatever i ain't paying sh*t for music, seriously
