Is anyone up to write a tutorial on how to do like abstract layouts in photoshop? I'm not very good with photoshop, but this seems like a tutorial that would be pretty original, an example of what i'm talking about would be:

hmmmm.....that is going to be a huge taking. Ill add insight and assist if I can. The thing with abstract is it is really about creativity.....There are many lil techniques that go into the layout you show us. You are going to end up with a big tut that consists of many small tuts.......but you are right many folks could benefit from it. nice layout BTW

for what program?
I'd use NURBS if I had 3ds max, because abstracts are just plain easy in 3ds max.
For Lightwave just extrude, intrude, bevel, rotate and size a lot! :D

Other then the little bit of 3D there is nothing too advanced (no pun intended) about this. It is really about haveing a creative enough mind to come up with it. IT is mostly small semi transparent shpaes or images layerd together in a really cool fasion. Maybe pic out some sections or elements you like and see if ppl will help you with that. As for an over all tut there really couldnt' be one.

Another thing you can do is jsut try to copy it exactly. That is one of the best ways to figure out other ppls techniques and find some of your own. IF you spent a couple hours jsut playing around in PS trying to copy this you will learn alot aobut how it is done. Just be sure to tell ppl where you where inspired from when you post so no one trys to nail you with a rip claim. And i probably wouldn't stick it in a portfolio unless it is really diffrentthen the original.

I feel your pain.....
check this out.... grab PhotoShop and your favorite 3d program and start here
http://www.depthcore.com/v4/core.php
from there explore other sites absorb the knowledge and above all
Practice, Practice, Practice... there are plenty of tutes out there by some really talented people doing ab art...., but you will never ever find a tute that will
show you how to come up with an image like the one you posted earlier...
you will learn... it will take time but you will enjoy the ride.... :beam:

I don't think it's possible to have a tutorial for this. it's all up to you and your creativity. writing a tutorial on it would only work for one and only one layout.
i think the best way would be to go check out alot of these kinda images and figure out the trend.
you said it yourself, it's abstract ;)
