I think it would be really interesting with which progs you code your homepages if you just use html...
So do you prefer Dreamweaver MX, GoLive, Frontpage or Notepad ;p

If it's not complex coding then I'll use just the notepad, if it's more complex then I'll use Dreamweaver.

I have been known to code in notepad occasionally, but overall I use Dreamweaver.

I haven't tried the others, just Dreamweaver and Notepad.

So in that case I voted Dreamweaver :beam:

<- frontpage
i think its pretty powerful. but adds a bunch of un-neccessary coding to it.
im gonna try and switch to dreamweaver soon. i dont have the mental capacity to go completely notepad. :cowboy:

Well if you are using the WYSIWYG side of any program they add so much unneccesary code to your file. Even Dreamweaver.

Every WYSIWYG editor does. But that is a price you pay for not being able to code it yourself unfortunately.

try homesite :P it has WYSIWYG, its a very powerful prog.
it also colors your code :P, if its PHP, ASP, CFM, HTML.

well maybe the porgs listed in the poll does it also...

Maybe some guy who can code himself adds a pile of unnecessary stuff to his code! :P

thediablo
January 8th, 2003, 02:51 PM
heh yeah. maybe thats how everyone started, adding bunch and bunch of unessesary code that you only get JS popup error everytime you load the page that you have to delete the file cos you cant find the error

:P

LOL, not as much as a WYSIWYG. Because WYSIWYG editors give you a full source of psycho babble. Something you can do with like 5 tables cells takes like 147 div tags with a WYSIWYG editor.

LOL :P

BTW: I do that all the time diablo...lol.

Allaire is now owned by MM (because of Cold Fusion) and uses a lot of Homesite's features... You will have to convert eventually...

just an FYI

Lost:

If you use the tabs on the bottom of the page in DW, you will eliminate most of the extra DIV tags.

My brother taught me that...

OMG! LOL!

Then you are a good started huh :D

but i think you should start messing with the code insted with a prog like DREAM MX! that does all the coding, and you just drag and drop, the stuff.

What happens when you want to do something or explore the code and you open the editor and just see a large list of
<tags> and you go nuts!

:o try homesite hehe.

Diablo:

DW allows you to see the code, write the code, or drag and drop, pretty much everything Homesite did.

Homesite is no longer being built (MM has reassigned the Homesite team).

I would rather code by hand as I have been doing now.

It is easier for me and gives me more control ;)

<B>CONTROL!!!!!!!!!</B> :scream:

thediablo

now control is a good word :D

Reverend, yeah but sometimes it freaks me out, drag and droping, then open the editor to change tags or add more things, etc... i prefer plain coding.

I understand.

All I was saying, is that DW MX has replaced Homesite. If you use DW correctly, it will write your code very efficiently (same as any prog).

You can code by hand, then look at the graphical interface to see if that is what you wanted, as well...

Everyone codes their own way...

I think we said it before: "As long as it works"

thats a good phrase :D

"as long as it works"

there are dif ways to achieve the same goal, the way you chose is up to you, simple as that right :D:D

I had an instructor at Chef's School:

"There are hundreds of ways to make Chicken Soup. Some of them involve chicken."
