You be the judge! Should I continue with 3d?

yes you should.....If you used max and used a chamfer box for those.......sharpen your edges, if you used a mesh smooth of some sort add some density to the edges.....looks like you have some sort of radiosity there which is good. I would say keep going at it.

What proggy are you using anyway?

Yeah, it looks good, better than i can do! (not really saying much though... :P) good work, but i agree, make the edges sharper.

Thanks DDD, Brad. I'm using 3dsmax 5! And alot of Advanced Lighting :D! I'm still new with 3dsmax though and I still need to learn alot of the technical stuff very hard to learn a new program when your work only focuses on Actionscripting! :)

hey there is nothing there at that site. Only a splash?....Are you using Brazil or something for a render? Or just the regular max scanline renderer?

I can help if ya need it just let me know.....www.3d-mc.com www.3dbuzz.com are some really cool resources also.

I don't know what you mean by Brazil ... I only pressed F9 to render. :-\

I'd say definetly man.. I wish I had the time to learn 3dsmax.. :(

It's easier than Flash man! :thumb: Most people try to avert 3dsmax because of the overwhelming gui and buttons but it's very easy compared to Flash! IMO

Well yes and no. Dont forget 3ds max has its own scripting language. And there are still a bunch of functions that I do not know how to use and I have been using the software for quite sometime. BUt the basics to get up and running are right in front of you. Just as flash is but max gets deep, as flash does.

Well.. I mean.. I have no time at all really.. Not saying it is really hard...

And.. Remember.. I'm more a programmer.. Designing takes me longer to realize... Hell, I don't even use tweens in flash cause I hate em.. AS all the way :D *lol*

Should you continue, let me think...hmm....... yes! lol :P.... seems to me like you have got the basics down in max ;)

theres nothing wrong with learning more programs, and keep in mind, learning 3d will help in some way even if you choose to not use it. (teaches you depth, materials, texturing methods, lighting habits and correct lighting perspectives..... ect.....)

Nice work, let see some more !! :)

Excellent point DDD. :thumb:

Well the main reason why I want to learn 3d is to enhance my Flash presentations so I'm still very much a Flash guy. I don't particularlly plan to go deep with 3dsmax. I just want the extent of modelling and the basics of animation. I think these tool will enhance my design skills and awaken the artist in me (hopefully). I have since lost the essence of an artist since I began AS and with making dynamic websites using Flash and PHP.

I only know semi-advanced lighting in cinema4D... (the demo!)

Of course you should continue. You have some good suggestions for improving your current scene. If you are looking for additional MAX resources, try

good luck!

eilsoe: the lighting looks like a skylight rendered with the light tracer.

I think maybe he is talking of GI settings. It is really not advanced but it is like rendering with radiosity..you get advanced when you jump off into HDR and stuff......But it is good and he should continue.

I used skylight and light tracer! :) For the reflection, I used ray trace with all the settings white!
