anyone know why this thing happen:

when i save as jpeg in photoshop, all the gradient will not be a smooth one. it appears as discrete line by line. the transition from one colour to another is not that good.

the quality already set to maximum.

crank up the quality, sure it will boost the file size (at 100 quality, the file will be x10 bigger than the same file at 0 quality). Thats all there is to it (oh, and a high resolution helps too)

Your gradient is "banding."
By chance is one of the colors orange?

You can try to reduce the steps by chosing a color that is closer to the second one.

-or-

check this (http://www.imouthere.com/pdf/Photoshop_Gradient_Blending.pdf) link.

It's either that or your monitor color profile.
