CD to MP3 Conversion

Hi,

I'm going to develop a website where I can store the mp3 files for downloading. I have few questions regarding this issue.

1) How do I convert the audio files (tapes/CDs) into downloadable mp3 format? Which tool is so effective for this kind of conversion? Is there any free tool available for this?

2) Do these mp3 files slow down my server if I maintain in a single folder in the server?

3) How effectively I can maintain this site?

It is illegal to copy songs from cds and place them on your site for download.

they are not songs buddy......they are my own audio files.....;)

Well in that case, it is fine.


Which raises the question..... wouldn't they have to of been on your computer before you could put them on the cd? What happened to those files?


Either way, I have never done it, but they are called CD Rippers I believe, you can get them from www.downloads.com, they copy the songs from a cd onto your computer.


And no, it doesn't slow down your server, but downloading them will take out a lot of bandwidth, so if you only have a low limit of bandwidth, then you shouldn't do that.
