On a post on the Suse Linux mailing, Jarl Friis writes how he contacted Macromedia concerning porting the Shockwave player to Linux, afterall the Flash player has already been ported to the free OS. The response from Macromedia was that, if requested by enough people, showing a desire for the port, engineers would then consider doing one.

In other Linux news, EWeek is reporting that for the first time, in a recent survey, sofware developers consider Linux to be more secure than Microsoft Windows.

Could Microsoft be losing its grip? Is Window's popularity in decline? With the threat of Apple's new face and recent issues in security, it seems Windows will soon be facing an uphill battle. This could mean even more ground gained by Linux in the coming months. This too when another recent study suggests many Windows users are evaluating other platforms. If Linux gains enough ground, we may begin seeing Macromedia authoring environments, like Flash, built for the Free OS.
