Lightwave 3d 7.5 info

Hey guys,
I am looking into buying a 3d program and after talking to bryce homick (picture (http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/lw-gallery/displayimage.php?album=11&pos=4)) in school today i decided that lightwave is the way to go. I would like to know how much does it go for? I really need to knwo this to start working for it, any info would be great, its just a single license, mac ro winblows.

Great choice....LW 8 has really closed the gap on the big guys. The interface is a bit different since you have used max. But I think you will like it. The only draw back I would say is that the number of resources on the web does not equal max. But between the forum on www.newtek.com their tuts and www.3dbuzz.com and their forum you will have more than enough. Plus LW ships with a humongous but good book. lightwaves interface is scary ive tried to use it b4 witho no luck i bought a book on maya and ive learned alot with this book and im only into chapter 2 although lightwave is great its learning curve can be a little steep but its a good appt nonetheless :beam: good luck

one more thing dippy. If you use dual monitors. With LW you will not be able to do it with 2 vid cards. You will need a high end vid card that has 2 monitor ports. I learned this the hardway. There is no other way around it. I spent hours on the phone with their tech support about it. :)

how much does Lightwave student/education ver cost?

mdipi... lightwave is the way to go... the cost is $1595... plus I think they are offering a free upgrade to version 8 if you order soon... LW ship both mac and pc same purchase.... so whatever platform you are on youre good to go...
well worth the money.... LW use to go for almost 3 grand...
3d-iva... what was the issue you had with dual monitors?...
I run a dual setup I have 2 cards... with the exception of a screen redraw issue due to os9 problems... mine seems to be fine... are you on mac or pc platform..?

I am on pc. I did not know LW was ever that much I bought 6 a while ago it was not nearly 3g's lucky I figure. I am on a pc. And it is a known issue that you cannot at least newtek and I did not know how to pull it off. On mac I guess there is a diff. But I went out and bought a high end vid card now it is smooth sailing some may not have that option. I was just warning him but I love LW not sure if I will be bumping up to 8 tho.

cool.... I can guess that with one card both your screens match....
I have two different cards so there is a slight diff in color temp but not so noticable....

And the minimum requirement for RAM is 128 for Lightwave.

i used to work with max5. then tryed maya, maya is to hard for me, i just dont like it. From what i have seen lw is power packed in an easy to use interface.

cyber: good find thanks :thumb: talking to bryce in school the otherday he said that the free upgrade package was good, but it doesnt come with the manual or book like 3d-iva said. so i dont know weather or not to buy now and upgrade later with out hte book, or just wait and possibly pay a bit of a higher price. i think i want to just get it now and start playing but i need some mroe consent.

meh i dont like to post work anymore, its kinda a thing with me. i esp dont like the 3d work...hehe that doesnt deserve to me to even look at its so bad. i will throw up some of my deviations that i did in fw. not a lot of time on my hands anymore so i barley even post :-\

aaww man ya'll layoff dippy. He probably gets the stuff like 95% of the people here......I dont post alot of my stuff either (3d and vector)....mainly just my web stuff since that normally will be view by a bunch of diff folks and it is good to get reviews from a bunch of folks.

hey man i will be straight up. i have had those but not leagal, but i no longer have them for that reason. i just leaglized all my mm stuff thats hwy this question is here. so i can get something thats nice for cheap and legal. i am slowly makin the money to buy everything i use day to day, but its longer now that its no summer/
