He said he was going to try and paint that and to wish him luck.
So... GOOD LUCK.... I am sure you can do it.
My girlfriends grandmother was a painter. I great one, I went to her house and saw all the painting on the wall (not knowing she painted them) and I asked here where she got those paintings because they were incredible. She said she did them herself, and sure enough, the name on them was hers :)
But anyway, back on track now....
I have never tried oil paint so I don't know how hard it is, but nothing is impossible for Edwin (in art at least).

Edwin, you own me in drawing... but I have to say this, the shading is a bit off (IMHO)... I've surfed for many years, and really have always loved drawing them... with that said: the dark area of the water should swing more to the right, following more the bottom of the wave... esp where it gets close to the lip, it should follow really dark straight off to the right (under the part thats pitching over) and then following the same line slowly fade as the angle of the wave decreases.
I hope thats clear... once again you rule, but I hope you like this constructive crit!! :)
Peace

BTW your stroke patterens do a great job of showing the movement/momentum of the wave - well done.

very nice! i'm going to start doing some oil painting over christmas break. it doesn't look like it'd be that difficult to do (though i'm basing this on my experience with acrylics). i'm sure you'll do fine with it :)
