Problems in Photoshop

hey guys, i am having problems with photoshop, when ever i open it up, and try to like on the menu, it freezes and doesn't load, anyone have any ideas besides re-installing? -Thanks

yea same thing happened to me .....until i GOOGLED IT!! :P
you need to delete your photoshop preferences, for more info go here http://www.creativepro.com/story/feature/17478.html?origin=story

Among the clues that the Preferences file has gone bad are:

Freezes and crashes.
Unusual tool behavior.
Menu commands unexpectedly not available.
Missing or blacked-out icons in the Toolbox.
Unusual colors for interface items

tell me if this fixes the problem

edit: i don't think reinstalling solved the problem for me because your preferences are not deleted with uninstall...i can't remember for sure though

so for me the preferences file is located in

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Settings

since i have Win XP...
